Review: Pulse for Hot Octopuss

I received a Pulse from Hot Octopuss recently, in return for a review.  The Pulse is a toy that was launched recently and has been touted as the world’s first “guybrator”.  At the very least, that’s a bit of a fib as I’ve had a Fun Factory Cobra Libre for a couple of years or so, which is very similar, but I won’t let that misdemeanour put me off.

For those of you who haven’t heard of this one, the Pulse is a vibrator designed to wrap around the penis and provide enjoyable sensations to the underside, in particular the frenulum, which is also where the Cobra Libre focuses its vibrations.  Unlike the Cobra Libre however, the Pulse wraps around the shaft of the penis as opposed to being a small sleeve to slip into.  The main body of the pulse is crafted from hard ABS plastic and the flexible wings are made from body safe silicone.

The Pulse has, according to the manufacturer, an oscillating motor.  It’s supposed to be different from a regular vibrator but, if I’m honest, I can’t really tell the difference.  I think if I did the Pepsi Challenge with an oscillating and a regular vibe, I’d not be able to guess which was which.  Now the motor behind the vibe is very good.  It’s just not revolutionary… (see what I did there).  What it does do, is work very quickly!  The first time I used it, it brought me to orgasm much quicker than I expected as the focussed vibrations really did hit the spot.  What I personally like about it is that it just has basic vibration settings, nine in total, all powerful enough to make you orgasm.  It starts out with a low rumbly setting then becomes faster or slower depending on which button you press.  Those of you that have read some of my vibrator reviews before know that lots of weird patterns on toys can just be an annoyance and I rarely use them.  This one just cuts to the chase. What I also love, is the little crown pattern on the “pleasure plate” itself, the centre of the vibrations, as it’s where you place the crown of the penis. Well played, Hot Octopuss, well played.

Although cheaper than the Cobra Libre, the Pulse has a few advantages.  It’s easy to clean as when you orgasm, you’re not ejaculating in the device itself.  You can watch yourself (or your partner) orgasm, too.  The biggest advantage though, is the ease of operation.  I’ve owned my Cobra Libre for over two years and I still have no idea what I’m really doing with it. This however, is a breeze to use.  You also don’t end up selecting buttons by mistake, or ending up with a setting you don’t like.  With the Pulse, it’s easy to select the vibration you want and easy to change it if you want something that feels different.

Pulse-3

So is it worth sixty nine of your English Pounds? Yes, it is.  I was sceptical about it, I’ll admit.  It’s always the same feeling when I review a new product from a new company (especially a British one), probably one that’s been financed by a single person with their life savings.  I know they’re counting on good reviews to make it and for their huge investment not to be a waste of time.  Because of this, I’m always a little hesitant as it’s not like reviewing a toy for a huge company that doesn’t have all its eggs in one basket.  A series of dodgy reviews for a new starter could finish them off and I’d feel bad, even if they did produce a dodgy product.  So, for that reason, I’m glad the Pulse is a good one.  I had visions of me writing about a toy that had little or no power.  About having to write that it was unable to bring me to orgasm, no matter how hard I tried.  I’m happy to write the opposite.

Pulse-7

Could it be better? Sure.  There are improvements that could be made.  It’s a little too easy to press the middle of the toy down, which stops the oscillations altogether.  I imagine, if this was done for a long period, the motor would burn out.  Water proofing would be an upgrade.  I mean, surely any toy you could potentially ejaculate over should be a little waterproof?  It’s also, in my opinion, not really a couple’s toy in its current form.  Although the drawings in the manual would indicate that it is, in reality, it’s a little too awkward.  What it is, is a very good frenulum vibrator…oscillator…whatever.  Ever held a vibe against your penis (or partner’s penis) and it felt good?  This is the next step.  Ok, it’s not the first vibrator for the penis, but it is one of the first, and it’s very decent.  Go check them out by clicking here or on the banner below!

Firstly.. isn’t that the cutest brand name in the world? Secondly, I love your signature coffee photographs.. they are so. Simple. Elegant. Smart.

But about the Pulse. I don’t own one (but would love to try one with Sir), but I was kinda skeptical about it.. so I’m quite surprised to hear you orgasmed quite quickly. I totally agree on weird patterns being annoying. I’ve never owned a vibrator that had patterns that I actually enjoyed. I’d love to get one for Sir and me, though I wonder if the one size could fit all shapes and sizes?

Hey – thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoy my photographs Taking photos of sex toys with coffee or cocktails have become a bit of a thing with me. I try to take them with all reviews, now!

I was sceptical too, but it proved me wrong. I was brought to orgasm quickly, as I was with the Cobra Libre.

I think it would be fine with lots of different penis sizes. It wraps around the shaft quite nicely and is crafted from a reasonably soft silicone. To give you an idea, the dildo in my photographs is a VixSkin Mustang, which is about 1.5″ in diameter. Personally, I’m 2″ wide and it fits me fine too, without being tight at all. It could stretch to wider quite easily :-)

That line in your review made me smile. Absolutely same experience with the CL!

Great review of this newcomer (haha) and I think I might give it a whirl. So to speak ;-).

My hubby and I were lucky enough to win one of these in a Twitter competition, we were a little unsure of it at first as my hubby hasn’t really experimented with vibrating toys.

We had great fun but it was over with very quickly, poor hubby couldn’t hold back his orgasm for too long :)

Although not a regular ‘couples’ toy, it is now a popular toy in our collection.
