Ruffled Sheets

A ruffled mind makes an excellent pillow

The Butt Boy is a million times better than the Rude Boy.

I wanted to start with that as my Rude Boy was one of the most disappointing products I’ve tried. I’m still astounded that it ever made it into production, which my last review said in no uncertain terms. Sure, you can use it in a way other than intended and it can sorta work, but that’s like giving a radio a good review because it makes a good paperweight…

This, on the other hand, is far better. It probably won’t revolutionize the way you jack off or give you mind blowing orgasms, the likes of which you’ve never seen, but it does what it’s supposed to and it works.

With the Butt Boy, Rocks Off have away from their previous formula of prostate toy shapes. This one is shorter and isn’t curved, rather it’s cone shaped, which works. Their previous designs were all too long and too curved. The only way to use a Rude Boy to stimulate your prostate is to use the perineum massager as a handle and wield it like a Pure Wand. The issue with that approach though, is that the bullet vibe just makes your hand buzz and, well, that’s not what you bought the toy for anyway.

All the toys in this range are designed to be inserted fully and for the vibe to massage your perineum. As far as I can tell, this is the only one that enables the user to do that comfortably. I certainly wouldn’t even advise trying with a Rude Boy, lest you wish to injure yourself and risk an embarrassing trip to Accident & Emergency.

With the Butt Boy, you can do just that, however. It can easily be inserted all the way in, leaving the vibrating portion resting snugly against your perineum. From here you can, well, do whatever you like as you will have both hands free, which has its advantages… All toys in the ‘Boy’ range are designed so you can insert them, sit down and then rock back and forth to experience changes in pressure internally (specifically on the prostate). Whilst this is certainly possible, it felt a little awkward to me. This isn’t because of the toy. For me, sitting down and rocking just feels a little awkward, anyway. Whether my legs are outstretched or crossed, when I’m sitting upright, I don’t feel like I have enough access to play. For me, a far better position is with my legs open wide and when I’m leaning back. Everything is then exposed and can be reached easily without contorting my wrists. This is how I use most plugs and this one is no exception. I have found myself holding it in place and pushing the base against my perineum for a little more sensation but it can easily be used completely hands free.

Like all Rocks Off products, it’s very well made. The silicone is firm, but not hard and it’s well constructed. The bullet is sufficient but not really that powerful (like most bullets, sadly). The base of the toy would actually fit a much larger bullet inside. I’m not really sure why Rocks Off choose their smallest bullets for the products. An immediate improvement to all toys in this range would be to use their bigger, more rumblier bullets. The one provided does the job however, and you can feel the vibrations internally, all the way to the top of the toy.

To summarise, this is the best Rocks Off‘ toy in the range. It’s the best shape, the best size, the best design. If you’re thinking about buying a dual prostate/perineum toy and want something a little bigger then this is probably the only one you should look at. Go buy one, here!

To end, I’d just like to thank Alice at Lovehoney for sending this toy to me. I wrote in my last Rocks Off review that I wanted to try one of these out and, after reading it, she sent me one! Thank you so much :-)

Lovehoney Sex Toys

I’ve had my eye on one of these for a while.

I’ve been a fan of Fun Factory since I bought my Bootie, a few years ago. To this day I can’t think of a single thing wrong with that toy and have been keen to try more of their products. To that end, I couldn’t believe my luck when Angelina from The Boudoir emailed me to ask if I’d like to review for them and found out that the Bloomy was without a review on their website. Naturally, it went to the top of my list and was pleasantly notified that it would arrive shortly for me to try out, which it did.

Having been such a big fan of the Bootie, I was very eager to try another Fun Factory product but, in particular, another of their anal toys. Now the Bloomy and Bootie shouldn’t be compared against each other as they are plainly to be used differently, but they do share some of the same attributes. They’re both crafted from the same soft, pliable silicone and they’re both for, well, shoving in your butt… That’s about where the similarities end, though. Whilst the Bootie is for inserting and leaving in, the Bloomy has a handle and is best used when manipulated by either your or a partner’s hand. Similar to the Lelo Bob, this is a toy designed to be played with. It should be used actively, like a dildo, not passively, like a cock ring.

So, where shall I start? After giving Rocks Off a roasting for their poorly designed Rude Boy, I’ll begin with the shape. I was very curious about the Bloomy. I love the swirly style of the toy but I wondered how it would feel inside as, ultimately, that’s what’s important about a toy’s shape. I was also curious about the angle, whether the toy would be able to stimulate my prostate and whether the perineum massager would rest snugly against my skin, which is what so many try (and sadly, often fail) to do.

Fortunately, the Bloomy wins on both accounts. It feels fantastic when inside and, for me at least, the angle is spot on. I must add at this point that the Bloomy isn’t really one of those dual purpose toys, designed for simultaneous prostate & perineum stimulation. It’s crafted from super soft silicone and is designed so it’ll fit snugly against your body when you slip it inside, without causing discomfort or moving about. You’ll be able to feel the base against your perineum, sure, but first and foremost, this is an anal toy. It’s also not a toy for a complete beginner. If you’ve never slipped anything into your butt before, this will probably be a little too big.

As I implied earlier, the Bloomy is best when manipulated. It’s not a ‘thruster’, but subtle, gentle movement feels amazing. The ring style handle is perfect for changing pressure and slight position changes during play. I’ve found that the most enjoyable way to use it is to have pressure increased and decreased by delicately moving the ring around, although it’s perfectly possible to leave it in like a plug, of you so wish. Just be aware that if you leave it in and spread your legs wide apart, it’s liable to change position on its own and twist slightly. You can insert it both ways, too. The silicone is very soft and bendy so can easily be slipped in backwards for different sensations. When used this way, the outer piece still sits snugly against your skin. I’ve used it like this probably 30% of the time. It’s an option with the toy that you will actually use.

It’s also a toy to be used in accompaniment to other stimulation, whether alone or with a partner. It’s great to play with (or have it played with) during a hand or blow job, in conjunction with another toy or even just as part of a jack off session. What I’m alluding to is that this isn’t a toy you’d use on its own with no other stimulation. It’s not like a prostate massager or dildo where the anal stimulation alone can be enough without having to touch anything else. It’s designed to compliment other types of play.

What Fun Factory have done is create a toy that’s somewhere in the middle between a plug and a dildo and you know what? It works.

If you’ve used a Lelo Bob before and want something a little bigger or more adventurous, this is for you. If you like butt plugs but want something you can manipulate whilst inside, this is for you. If you’re looking for an anal toy to use on your partner but want something you don’t have to constantly thrust in and out, this is for you.

The Fun Factory Bloomy is a wonderful toy and I thoroughly recommend it. It’s beautifully designed, arrives in Fun Factory’s trademark quality packaging and, like other Fun Factory toys, a small sachet of water based lube is included (be sure to only ever use water based lube with it, so as not to damage the silicone).

The bottom line is: I love it.

Thank you so much Angelina for sending it to me. If you want to purchase one yourself, you can buy them from The Boudoir here for the very reasonable price of £19.99 with free shipping to the UK!

Review: Rocks Off Rude Boy

On December - 30 - 2011 19 Comments

I’d like to start by stating that, in spite of everything I write after these first few lines, there are some good aspects to the Rocks Off Rude Boy. It’s well made, the silicone is quite nice, the bullet isn’t bad (as bullets go). All things that are important in a toy. There is however, one thing that is of paramount importance to any toy and that is the shape. This, sadly, is where Rocks Off have blundered.

This was my second sex toy. After trying this and the outstandingly bad Aneros MGX, I think I would have been forgiven had I not wanted to try another anal toy out for the rest of my days. Fortunately, I persisted and became the sex toy addict & reviewer I am now but this particular one didn’t do me any favours whatsoever.

I remember seeing this advertised on the Internet, watching videos of people dropping the vibe in water, listening to people rave about how good it was. I instantly wanted one. It was the first prostate toy that seemed to be mainstream. Even Ann Summers stocked them. I remember working in the centre of London and popping into Ann Summers to actually have a look at them. I was so glad that I could actually see one before buying, after the complete non-experience I had with the Aneros.

I didn’t buy one at first, though. It looked a little strange to me. Too curved. So I hesitated. Would that really feel good inside? I really wasn’t sure. I walked out of Ann Summers without one. Disheartened, I read another couple of reviews and checked the diagrams issued by the manufacturer. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe I was missing out on a fantastic new anal toy. So I ordered one, against my better judgement. This is the point where I’d like to say I was proven wrong, that it was an amazing toy and that I’d never looked back. Sadly….no.

No, the prostate isn

As it turned out, my instincts were correct. To sum it up, the Rocks Off Rude Boy is poorly designed. The idea of a toy that curls round to hit the prostate is good, in principle, but the Rude Boy is too long and too curved. It has about 7″ of toy you need to insert fully to be able to ‘rock’ on the perineum massager but the prostate is probably 3 inches inside. The diagram above is just fiction. The first time I tried it, I found that out. I remember slipping it inside, only to feel it causing discomfort after a few inches. Surely this wasn’t right? I mean, I wasn’t totally new to anal penetration and ordinarily the length & width would have been fine. I tried again, and again. And again. The same every single time. Sure, it didn’t feel terrible up until that point. I could also use the other end as a handle. But that’s not why I bought it and it’s certainly not how the toy is sold. I wanted a toy I could slip inside that left my hands free. I wanted to be able to rock on it, as described on the adverts. I certainly wanted something I could insert all the way without causing pain.

I can’t remember which time I decided to try something different, but after being disappointed many times, I decided to turn it the other way. My knowledge of the human anatomy (musculature aside) wasn’t fantastic at the time but even I thought that the rectum wasn’t shaped the way this toy was. I wondered if it would fit in reverse, with the perineum massager pointing the other way. I tried it and, as I thought, it went all the way in with ease. My initial assumptions were correct. Too long for a toy to be curved that way.

I’m sure the Rude Boy has sold well and I’m sure many people actually use them. Indeed, it is possible to insert all the way, but it’s not comfortable and does not hit the prostate, which is the intended outcome. Toys like this (and the Aneros) often sell well due to marketing and the fact that many people don’t like being negative. There are plenty of badly designed toys out there. I’m just staggered that more research into the human anatomy wasn’t performed before manufacturing it. It could have been fantastic.

I’ve spoken to a few guys about this toy and it appears that I’m not alone. It seems that many have bought it and feel the same way I do. Its a shame that such a prominent toy in the market is so poorly designed. I really cannot recommend it for anyone, which is a shame. There are some great, not dissimilar toys out there. The Nexus Max5 for example, would be a better purchase, or the Fun Factory Bloomy (which I’m reviewing at the moment) is a great shape. Just don’t buy this one as I don’t think you’ll like it.

To end on a semi-positive note, I think Rocks Off mean well. Their products are certainly well crafted, nicely packaged and made from good quality materials. I just think they made a big mistake with the shape of this particular toy. I also think they are beginning to realise they could have made a better toy themselves, as the latest in the rage (the butt boy) is a much better shape. See below.

This is a MUCH better shape.

It’s not harshly curved at all and I’d love to try one out to review. The cone shaped plug is a much better design and coupled with the vibe in the perineum massager, it could be a great dual purpose toy, the toy that this one should have been had the designer bothered to turn up to biology lessons at school…

Pleasurists adult product review round-up

I was hoping to write a snarky review this time.

Most of my reviews recently have been very positive. Sure, they’ve had their issues. For example, the REV1000 and Oxballs Cocksling are both made from TPR instead of silicone (why? Why would you do that??) but they were essentially both good products. Alas, sexshop365.com sent me the sublime Tantus Alumina Pace for review so my snark will have to wait until another review…!

I knew this one would be good before I even tried it out. It’s not my first Alumina product (see here for my review of the Alumina Flow) and I’ve read other views of the Pace that are all positive. Now with such high expectations it’s often easier to become dissatisfied but this wasn’t the case with the Pace. I could probably end the review here by just stating that there really isn’t anything wrong with it but I’ll elaborate on a number of points to try to illustrate why I enjoy using it so much.

Packaging

Tantus’s packaging is always OK but their Alumina range is in a different league. It’s comparable to luxury packaging by Lelo. You won’t want to throw it away, that’s for sure. Like all Alumina products, this comes in a stylish black box with sculpted foam inserts, as you can see below.

Description

Like all Alumina toys, the Pace comes in two main parts that screw together with a small washer in between. All Alumina products have the same screw fitting you can mix and match them. Of course, you are slightly limited to which ends can be mixed together but any Alumina ‘handle’ will screw into any Alumina ‘end’. Of course, like the rest of the range, the ‘handle’ isn’t strictly a handle. Each toy can be used both ways and this one is no exception.

Like the rest of the Alumina range, it’s exquisite quality and made from anodized aeronautical grade aluminium.  However, it’s slightly different from the rest in that it’s a tiny bit smoother to the touch.  You can feel the texture more in the bigger Alumina toys.  This is slightly smoother so there’s less friction when using it.  It’s 5″ long in total although you’ll only be inserting about 3″ at a time.  The pointy end is 1.25″ wide and the base, 1″.

Using

The Pace is often described as a plug. It’s true that it’s about the right size, but I’d argue that it’s more of a toy to be manipulated with rather than just inserted and left there. I tend to think of plugs as being stationary toys but this really isn’t. Like the Lelo Bob, I think this toy is often misunderstood.

Both ends of the Pace can be used and, indeed, both are enjoyable. My favourite however, is with the pointy end inserted, which is the way it’s intended to be used, I believe. Used this way, it hits my prostate every time with ease. The prostate isn’t as far in as you may think. Mine is about 3 inches inside and I think it’s the same for most. Toys that are 4-5 inches in length can be great but will travel past the prostate if inserted fully. This one is perfect and leaves just enough handle for you, or your partner, to hold on to and manipulate. It’s not really a ‘thruster’, but small movements feel amazing. Particularly if you focus pressure on the prostate.

I believe this is the best way to use it. It can be used as a leave in plug, but there are better products out there for that. The handle sticks out a little when inserted which, while perfect for holding, can make a clang if you sit down sharply on a wooden, glass or metal chair. It also moves around a little, too. This might be something that you’d like but personally I prefer it if plugs stay where they are if I’m going to be going out or walking around.

This, for me, is certainly a toy to be played with. Either with a partner or on your own, moving this one around is definitely the most fun way to play.

Temperature Play

If you own one of these and you haven’t tried fooling around with the temperature then you’re missing out on half the fun. The Alumina range is practically designed for it. This particular product doesn’t hold temperature quite as long as its bigger brothers and sisters but it still does a fine job, particularly as it’s only half the size of the others.

You can heat it up or cool it down in a number of ways but I’d recommend either warming in a basin of hot water (my personal favourite) or cooling in a bowl of ice (if you’re feeling adventurous!). For its size, it holds temperature very well.

Cleaning

Cleaning any Alumina toy is easy and this is no exception. I tend to use soap and hot water but it’s dishwasher safe if you want to pop it on the top shelf along with your silicone toys. It’s not shiny, but I wouldn’t want to use an abrasive cloth. Other than that, you’d be hard pushed to damage it however you cleaned it.

Summary

This is a great toy. I actually prefer it to my Flow at the moment.  It’s easier to carry around with me and feels amazing.  Thanks so much to Paul at www.sexshop365.co.uk for sending it to me!  You can pick one up here for £50.35, reduced from £55.95. It is quite expensive, but if you can find it cheaper in the UK, SexShop365.co.uk will refund the difference and give you an extra £1 for your trouble.

Pleasurists adult product review round-up

I’ve had this Spiral chastity device for a while now. I was lucky enough to be sent one by UberKinky a couple of months ago but I always like to test out chastity devices for a long time before reviewing.

Devices like this are different from other toys. They’re designed to be used for days, weeks, months at a time so I always prefer to use them a lot and for extended lengths before crafting an opinion on them.

So, without further ado, here is my first steel chastity device review.

The Device

The Spiral is simple in design. It consists of two parts, the cage and the ring. One attaches to the other and once locked together with the padlock provided, cannot be taken apart without the key (this isn’t strictly true with that particular padlock, but I’ll come to that later). The entire device is crafted from stainless steel and is well made. There are no harsh edges or excess steel from welding anywhere. Due to it’s material it’s heavy, but not too heavy as there isn’t too much to it.

Insertable Length: Internal Cage Length is 85 mm (approx. 3 3/8 inches)

Overall Diameter: Cage entrance diameter is 35 mm (approx. 1 3/8 inches)

The cage is a simple design. It’s crafted from a series of steel rings which are welded together in a curved shape. The end is enclosed but there are plenty of holes throughout. It’s probably 20% air and 80% steel, if that makes sense. Of course, none of the 80% air is big enough for you to slip out…! The cage has two posts welded to it and a hole in the middle of the first ring. This fits together with the main ring, which has two holes and a central post. Once locked in place, a padlock can be attached through the central post on the main ring.

Due to being made from steel, everything about this device is slightly smaller and less intrusive than its polycarbonate rivals. Steel is very strong so the rings can be made from less material but still have a much higher tensile strength, which they are.

Fitting

Fitting the device is easy, certainly compared with others. Because it only has two main parts, it is considerably less fiddly than trying to attach separate posts through holes in rings etc..

As with my previous reviews, I recommend putting this on in the shower. Shower gel is an effective lubricant, which really helps to slide on a device. Start with the main ring. Its a solid ring so you’ll need to be completely flaccid before you begin. Start by slipping one of your testicles through, then the other, then finally your penis. Once this is done, apply a little shower gel to your penis and slip on the cage. Once he cage is mostly on, line up the posts and fit the two parts together. Be careful not to catch your skin when you attach the cage to the ring. Once this is done, you can attach the padlock. Now that it’s on, blast away any excess gel and you’re good to go.

You don’t have to do this in the shower. I always find it easier but it isn’t necessary, particularly with this device. As mentioned earlier, it’s made from less material which means less surface area which, in turn, means less friction. Due to the lack of friction, it’s a lot easier to put on than any other I’ve tried.

Wearing

Wearing this device is completely different from wearing the others I own.

Physically, it’s similar… but mentally? It’s a world apart. My Bon4 is great and comfortable but it’s made from silicone so I know if I really want out, I can cut it. My Curve is much stronger as its made from polycarbonate but I know if I really wanted to, I could snap the posts on it pretty easily. With this? Not a chance! As soon as I started wearing it, I knew the only way to remove it would be with the key.

Now unless you’re pierced and have a padlock or other device attached through a PA then no non-belt device will be totally secure. This device is no exception. When completely flaccid and with a lot of lube, I could squeeze my penis out of the cage, but I’m not sure I’d ever fit it back in and I certainly wouldn’t be able to remove the device totally, which is why this one feels different. When it’s locked on, that’s it. End of story. Game over. Do not pass go, do not collect £200…

Other than the mental aspect of being locked in steel, this device is very comfortable. It’s heavier than my others, but personally, I like that as I can feel it there all the time. It’s very manageable, too. I probably wouldn’t want to play rugby wearing it but for every day use (including the gym), it’s not too distracting at all.

With other devices I’ve recommended using a little lube around the main ring to stop any chafing but I’ve found with this that I’ve never needed it. As explained earlier, the rings are smaller so have less surface area so there’s less friction involved.

I’ve worn this for days and nights at a time without having to remove it. I’ve been able to wear it for longer in one stretch than any other device and that’s mainly due to the open design which makes cleaning that much easier.

Sleeping in it is quite comfortable, too. Of course there will be times, particularly during the first week or so, where you’ll become aroused at night and your penis will try to become erect. This isn’t particularly comfortable in any device but it’s a little more bearable in this one due to the reduced amount of friction which is in turn due to the lesser amount of material it’s crafted from, as mentioned above.

One other thing to mention about steel devices… Be careful when sitting down on a hard surface. It might make a noise if you hit anything else that’s hard. I made a clang once when my olympic barbell hit it doing bicep curls once but I don’t think my training partner noticed. At least, I hope he didn’t…

Looks

I really like it. Steel is an acquired taste when it comes to restraints. I really like the way steel shines and the look of strength. Others may think it’s a little harsh and overpowering but I think its styling is good.

For me, there’s something about the appearance of being locked away in a metal device that isn’t there with a weaker material. It’s like the difference between being locked in furry leather handcuffs or steel cuffs the police use…

What’s also important is that this device is discreet. It’s small and doesn’t point out too much so is unnoticeable underneath your clothes. I’ve worn it to work under a thin business suit many times and it’s impossible to tell it’s there. As with all non-belt chastity devices, I’d advise wearing tight underwear or a jock strap to keep it from moving too much under your clothes.

Cleaning

As with ANY chastity device, cleaning is imperative. There is no substitute for taking it off and giving it (and yourself) a good, thorough clean. However, if you want a device that you can wear the longest without taking off, you should consider something like this.

As mentioned before, the strength of the steel means that less material is used, meaning less device to clean and easier access to your penis. It’s far easier to give yourself a good clean in the shower in this device than it is with most others as there are more (and bigger) holes. I’ve found that I can clean it, and myself, reasonably well in the shower using just shower gel, a powerful shower head and some cotton buds. The trick is to move your penis around in the device whilst cleaning then blast away all the shower gel afterwards. It won’t beat a proper clean when the device is off, but it’s as good as you’ll be able to do whilst keeping a device on.

Downsides

Not much, really.  The padlock that’s provided isn’t secure.  I’ve had a couple of devices that come with these style padlocks and each key fits every lock.  If you’re buying one of these then be sure to upgrade to something like a little ‘Master’ padlock.  They’re available from most hardware outlets for a few pounds.  I think mine was £3.50.  The only other thing is that it only comes in one size so be sure to measure yourself before purchasing.  Personally, it’s a little small for me but if you’re about the right size for a CB-6000 then you should be fine for the cage.  Just remember to measure for the ring to ensure it won’t be too tight or too loose.  Other than that, it’s a fantastic device.

Summary

It’s great.  It would be better if it came with a couple more rings and a better padlock but other than that I can’t really fault it.  To be honest, if this is the right size for you, there’s no real reason to buy a polycarbonate device.  There was a time when steel devices were expensive and people used to start out with the CB-x000 range before upgrading to something made from steel but when devices like this are available then there really is no need.  I didn’t think I’d say it but this has replaced the Bon4 as being my preferred device.

Thank you so much UberKinky!  I’ve really enjoyed reviewing this one!  If you want to buy one too, you can find them here for the bargain price of £59.99.

I was lucky enough to be sent the popular “Cocksling” by UberKinky, recently. This is my first toy review for UberKinky, who are an online fetish store that specialise in BDSM equipment. They are UK based but, have no fear, ship internationally!

The Cocksling is a kind of dual cock ring / ball stretcher made from some super stretchy TPR. Because of its stretchiness it’s a ‘one size fits all’ toy. Usually I’m a little sceptical about ‘one size fits all’ products but this one can increase in size so much it would probably fit an elephant… My Cocksling is red, as you can see, but they come in a huge variety of colours, as you can see:

I’ve been after one of these for a while as, well, I enjoy having my balls played with. Whether it’s scratched, touched, teased, held… I enjoy it! So products like this were designed for guys like me.

Putting it on

This is a very easy toy to put on, but there are a few basic things you need to remember so as not to spend ages fumbling around like I did the first time I tried it. Remember: Gravity is your friend. The easiest way to slip one of these on is to stand or kneel with your balls hanging down, stretch the device with both hands, then slip it over them and gradually let go. Once your balls are in place then it’s easy to slip your penis through the bigger hole. My other half tried to slip it on me initially when we were both lying on the bed but it wasn’t working at all. Then I tried and couldn’t manage to put it on either. As soon as I stood up, it took about 5 seconds. Without gravity my balls were just moving around too much, it seems, so whilst it might appear sexy to put on whilst lying down with your partner…it isn’t. You’ll just end up spending too long fiddling with it. I’ve been wearing it as it is, but you can apply a little water based lube to make it even easier.

Wearing

It’s extremely comfortable to wear. Because of the stretchiness of the material, it doesn’t apply that much pressure, so it’s not like a traditional cock ring. It won’t restrict blood flow, for example. What it does do however, is stretch your balls out just enough to keep the skin around them tight, which increases the sensation of any kind of touch. That feeling of your scrotum tightening as you approach orgasm? That’s what this is like, but right from the start.

The Cocksling can also be worn underneath your clothes. It feels good just wearing it but one thing to take into account is the effect it will have on your penis. It makes it stick out a little so you’ll have much more of a bulge, particularly if you’re not wearing any underwear.

Using

The best way to use this toy that I have found, is during foreplay or a hand/blowjob. You can use it during penetrative sex but, unless your balls are being played with, it just feels like they’re a little over exposed. When they are being played with, though…? Wow. Everything is enhanced. Every touch feels more intense due to the skin being pulled and kept tight. For me, this toy was designed for play, as opposed to sex. Every time I’ve used it, or rather had it used on me, it’s felt fantastic.

Material

The only thing you should be wary of with this particular toy is the material. Now, it’s made from TPR which is phthalate free and safe, but it isn’t entirely non-porous. For that reason, I wouldn’t recommend sharing it. If you’re careful though and clean it thoroughly after use (a good wash with soap and water is probably best), then it’ll last a long time. Oxballs do craft many of their toys from silicone, which is my favourite pliable material, but for this one they chose TPR, presumably due to the stretchiness of it. If you’re worried about it though, there are similar Oxballs toys available from Uberkinky that are silicone and therefore totally non-porous.

Summary

It’s great! The only minor niggle I had was the material, but I understand why they chose it. It just means that I may have to replace it at some point, which I will do as I wouldn’t want to be without this in my toy arsenal. It feels great, is comfortable to wear and is a huge amount of fun to play with. No wonder it’s a best seller. Well recommended!

Thanks so much for UberKinky for sending it to me for review! If you want one too, you can buy one here for £24.99!

Firstly, I’d like to thank Chris from sexhealth.co.uk for contacting me about this and sending me a Tenring to review.

This device is predominantly designed for those who suffer with erectile dysfunction.  However, this doesn’t mean it’s of no use to those of us who don’t suffer from it.  Far from it!  Sexhealth.co.uk were keen to receive feedback about what it’s like to use from someone who doesn’t have ED, which is where I came in…

Description

The MyTenring is a penis or cock ring.  It’s crafted from 100% pure silicone so is Phthalate free and completely non-porous.  Lots of silicone cock rings are quite stretchy and are ‘one size fits all’.  They’re designed to give you a small squeeze but nothing major.  Often they come with added mini bullet vibes in them.  This isn’t like that.  It’s made of very firm silicone.  It will stretch if you really pull it but otherwise it will stay firm.  It’s not meant to stretch with your penis.  It’s designed to restrict blood flow.  Because of it’s non-stretch nature it comes in four sizes (27mm, 32mm, 37mm and 42mm).  I must stress that it is extremely important that you buy the right size.  Unlike stretchy cock rings, fitting is paramount.

You’ll notice that it’s not just a simple ring.  It’s oblong in shape and around the ring it has four mini holes or handles designed to help put the device on and adjust it.  Some cock rings can be a little fiddly but this one is designed to be easy even for those who have less use of their hands.  You’ll also notice that the ring isn’t a standard circle shape.  It has a couple of cutouts at the top and bottom.  These are to reduce pressure on the urethra.  I mentioned in another post about how cock rings work.  Suffice it to say that they restrict blood flow out of the penis.  This is great but if you’re wearing a particularly tight ring, you may find that it also restricts the urethra and makes ejaculating harder.  This is because the urethra runs very close to the skin on the underside of the penis.  With this device, it’s designed to keep pressure not on the urethra, but on the rest of the penis, thus restricting blood flow and nothing else.

On a side note, due to its shape it actually reminded my other half of a cigar cutter…

I don’t think it’s that similar but if you happen to own a blue cigar cutter and your eyesight isn’t 20:20 then just double check before you pick up the wrong device…

How to

Due to its shape, putting this on is ever so slightly different from putting on a regular cock ring.  When wearing, one of the cutouts should be placed on the underside of the penis, in the middle.  It won’t harm you or hurt if it’s not placed correctly but if it’s not lined up correctly then you won’t receive the benefit of reduced urethral pressure due to the cutout.  I found it easiest to slip on when flaccid and adjust it whilst becoming hard.  The handles make it easy to adjust if it’s not on quite right first time.

Wearing

This is a cock ring designed to keep you hard for short periods.  It’s not one to be worn throughout the day or for any long period of time.  It comes with a warning not to use for more than 30 minutes at a time, which is reasonable.  It’s easiest to apply with a small amount of lube.  Remember to use water based though, as it’s silicone.

Once on and erect, it felt good.  I felt that usual cock ring feeling of my penis becoming engorged with blood.  My OH noticed that my veins were bulging immediately, too.  I must admit that I was slightly skeptical about the shape.  I thought the handles would somehow be in the way but they don’t.

I haven’t noticed any difference in the length of time it takes to reach orgasm whilst wearing it.  What I have noticed, however, is that orgasms appear to last a little longer and are very intense.  Sometimes with tight rings ejaculating can be hard as, as mentioned above, the urethra can also become restricted.  This really isn’t the case with this device.  I should admit that I was also skeptical about the cutouts but they really do appear to work.  It could be psychological I guess, but they really  do appear to reduce pressure on the urethra as reaching orgasm and ejaculating feels amazing.

Cleaning

Cleaning is simple.  It’s silicone so you can clean it with the rest of your silicone toys in soap and water, a 10% bleach solution or you can boil it.

Summary

This is a great device.  I take back my initial thoughts that it was a funny shape with novelty cutouts.  It really does feel good to wear and has fantastic results.  Thanks so much Chris for sending it to me to review!

The only thing left to do now is to show you where you can buy them.  Which is here at  sexhealth.co.uk.  If you’re quick, you can buy one at their reduced price of £17.60, reduced from £22.00 (which is already a reduction from the RRP of£28.00).

Review: Rev1000

On November - 1 - 2011 19 Comments

I’ve had to keep quiet about this one…

The Rev1000 is released today and I was lucky enough to have been sent one by the good folks at www.sextoys.co.uk in exchange for a review. I had to wait until today to publish this, so here it is…

Description

The Rev1000 is a new type of masturbator. I can’t really compare it to anything else I know about, to be honest. It’s a big device that’s shaped like half a rolling pin with a motor in the middle, a handle with a multifunction control and in the wide end is a soft sheath that you slip into. The reason this toy is different is that, whilst motorized, it doesn’t vibrate. Instead of vibrating, the sheath turns. Either consistently one way or a pattern of twists and turns.

The control panel has five buttons that control the toy. One central button with four buttons around it in two pairs. The central button is for turning on and off, left & right change the pattern and up & down control the power. It has seven patterns in total and seven speeds so you can pick a combination of both. The patterns range from gentle movements side to side to fast twisting in a single direction with a bunch of them in between as well.

The toy itself is nicely put together. The handle is made from some very soft to touch plastic and it fits nicely together with the other parts, the see-through middle area, the internal sleeve and the soft TPR end. All in all it’s a well made device and is easy to take apart and put back.

It also comes with a charger that plugs in the base of the toy, rather like charging a mobile phone. This is my preferred method of power as you don’t need to worry about batteries and you won’t have any cables in the way when you’re actually using it. Which brings me to…

Using the toy

Using this has been fun. So far, although it will probably be bought mostly as a solo toy, I’ve only used it with my other half. It’s easy to use and after about 30 seconds you’ll be able to remember which settings are which, something that after months of trying to workout I still cannot do with my Fun Factory Cobra Libre. To make it even easier, there are little LEDs that let you know which pattern and speed you are on which, although may sound an obvious feature, is unfortunately missing on so many multifunction devices. There’s also a description of all patterns in the manual. This also may sound simple but it’s often hard to remember specific patterns in the heat of the moment…

It’s best to enter the toy when you’re already hard. If you’re too soft then you won’t feel the sheath brush against your skin and you may struggle to become erect just by using it. Once in, simply switch it on and choose your desired setting or, as we have been doing, mess around with all the settings.

Once inside and switched on, the feeling of the soft bobbles is unique. Similar to the Cobra Libre, the Rev1000 concentrates mainly on the head of the penis. Indeed you’ll have to be inside the toy about three inches before you’ll reach the sheath. Like the Cobra Libre though, you really don’t notice as there is so much sensation being directed at the head of the penis.

Unless you need to relube, as we did once, there really is nothing more to it. On that note, I’d advise using plenty of water based lube. If you don’t use enough, it can dry out and won’t feel as nice. As with any toy anyway, it’s always better to use too much lube than too little so to avoid having to stop mid way through play, use a little more than you think you’ll need when you start.

Reaching orgasm

This is the million pound question: What does it feel like to orgasm whilst using it?

There isn’t really one single word that I can use but if I had to describe it succinctly then I’d say ‘slow and intense’. Both building up to orgasm and actually ejaculating last longer than usual. I don’t mean it takes ages to approach it, it doesn’t. In fact, as the stimulation is pretty intense, it can only take a few minutes. But once you reach the point of no return things last longer. That point where you know you’re going to orgasm and there’s no going back lasts ages and when using it, I ejaculated for longer than I usually do. Earlier today it must have lasted for about 20 seconds.

It also took me a while to respond to my other half when she was speaking to me afterwards. Usually when we’re trying out new toys we’ll chat about them straight away afterwards and think about what will go in the review. This time I had to take a minute or so to come to.

Reaching orgasm with one of these is definitely more intense and unlike reaching orgasm with a regular vibe or toy. In a good way.

Cleaning

Cleaning is quite easy. If you were in a hurry, you could simply unscrew the top, remove the sheath attachment and clean that easily. Personally, I like to take it completely apart. The sheath is attached to a plastic inner compartment which locks shut with a piece of plastic. It can be a little fiddly the first time you remove it but after a couple of goes it’s easy. I’ve used soap and water to clean so far and it’s been fine.

Pros and cons

On the good side it’s nicely made, easy to use and produces a fantastic intense, slow orgasm. It’s easy enough to clean and is rechargeable.

On the bad side, it’s a little loud. It’s marketed as ‘discreet’ but I’d have to disagree a little with that as it does tend to whirr quite fiercely. It’s just a product of the motor, which is quite powerful. It’s not terrible but if you’re looking for something quiet then you might need to look elsewhere. I didn’t expand on it earlier but the soft parts are made of TPR or thermoplastic rubber. I’m not entirely sure if it’s TPR silicone or regular TPR. Neither of which contain phthalates so they’re safe, but they’re unfortunately not totally non-porous. The inner sheath is replaceable and indeed you are supplied with a spare but the outer end is not, unfortunately.

If you want to be completely safe then, as with all TPR compound toys, you’re better off using a condom.

The verdict

This is a great toy. If it were made of silicone (and possibly a little quieter) then I wouldn’t knock off any marks at all. As it is, there are a couple of small improvements to be made but it’s still great. It’s easy to use, feels fantastic and produces almost mind blowing orgasms. Thank you so much sextoys.co.uk for sending me this..
